“Appretur”, from the French “apprêt” meaning “equipment, preparation,” refers to the enhancing treatment of fabrics and textiles, as well as yarns, fibers, paper, and leather, to give them a special appearance and/or specific properties. This includes special surface textures, stiffness, softness, gloss, density, smoothness, suppleness, as well as water-repellent, antistatic, flame-retardant, or antimicrobial treatments.
