A waistband is the waist finish of trousers/skirts and usually consists of outer fabric, waistband interfacing, sewing tape, and decorative items such as piping or design tape. It can be sewn on, attached, or cut on. An attached waistband creates a seam, also known as a waistband seam. An elastic, stretchable waistband is equipped with an elastic band.
