The story of Alge Elastic in Vorarlberg began in 1923. The company’s founder, Albert Alge, initially produced embroideries, which soon made the region internationally famous. In 1932, he recognized the high market potential for elastic bands and braided trims. His son, Kurt Alge, continued the entrepreneurial spirit and expanded the company until his death in 1999. Hanno Alge, Kurt’s son, also continued the tradition as managing director. However, in 2019, the company had to declare bankruptcy as its continuation was deemed economically unfeasible by the responsible parties.
